#162: Diet and Fertility with Lisa Simon, RD
“I think the most surprising thing is how diverse the plant-based diet is…there are so many different meals you can make out of plants!” -Lisa Simon, RD
As fertility problems become increasingly common in our modern world, there is an ever-growing avalanche of misinformation about diet and lifestyle changes that can affect fertility. However, there is research to show that there are certain ways to eat that can support our hormones, sexual health and fertility.
In this episode of Veggie Doctor Radio, I interview Lisa Simon a registered dietician in the UK who specializes in fertility for males and females.
We discuss:
Her plant-based story
Most surprising realization about plant-based diets
How diet impacts fertility and how it differs for women and men
Why we need to include men in the conversation about fertility
Diet and lifestyle changes couples can make to improve their health and fertility
What dietary changes improve hormonal balance - is more fat content really better?
Soy and fertility
Dairy and fertility
If it is important for couples to improve their diet before pursuing conception
What she wishes more couples knew about fertility
What personal habit she is most proud of
