#67: Intuitive Eating and Your Child
“Children have natural ability with eating. They eat as much as they need, they grow in the way that is right for them, and they learn to eat the food their parents eat.” -Ellyn Satter from Ellyn Satter’s Division of Responsibility in Feeding
We are finally on the intuitive eating episode where I talk about feeding your kids! If you have missed the previous episodes, they are essential to help you understand the background and foundation for fostering intuitive eating in your children.
In this episode, I discuss why feeding your child may be stressful and why the majority of parents may interfere with how much their child eats. I also describe Ellyn Satter’s Division of Responsibilities. Finally, I discuss what I call the Five Pillars of Healthy Eating which is a framework with which to approach feeding your family.
The Five Pillars of healthy eating
Honor hunger and satiety
Emphasize Whole plant foods
Establish a positive environment
Be Flexible
Relax and have fun
