#98: What Women Need to Know About Erectile Dysfunction with Dr. Aaron Spitz

“When you start to notice there are problems there consistently, that is not just a one-off psychological issue, pay attention because that can be a sign that the arteries throughout your body are becoming diseased or weakened.” -Dr. Aaron Spitz

Erectile dysfunction is a sensitive topic and it may be very difficult for some men and couples to address. Unfortunately, its exceedingly common! By 40 years of age, 40% of men will experience some changes in their erections and that number only increases with age. In the documentary film, The Gamechangers, we learned how incredibly influential diet can be in penile health and this has motivated many men to look more seriously at what they are eating.

In this episode of Veggie Doctor Radio, I talk with Dr. Aaron Spitz, a urologist that specializes in male infertility and sexual health, about the influence of diet and lifestyle habits on a man’s penis.

We discuss:

  • The prevalence of erectile dysfunction

  • Why erectile dysfunction may be the first and only warning sign for an impending heart attack

  • What percentage of erectile dysfunction improves with diet and lifestyle changes

  • What diet he recommends for optimal penile health

  • Why he loves leafy greens and beets

  • His 5 Step Plan for Maximal Penis Health

  • The effect of chronic stress on libido and erections

  • How medications can be associated with erectile dysfunction

  • How women can best support the men in their lives

  • What he wishes more men knew
